In development: DIN SPEC 27070 and VDI 5600 MES

It is not just the IT industry that has been demanding for a long time that regulations are needed for the handling of sensitive industry data. This is why the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) and the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI, Association of German Engineers) are currently working on binding, standardized guidelines. On account of its practical relevance and expertise, DATA AHEAD was commissioned to help write the text of the standard as one of the co-authors.

DIN SPEC 27070

In principle, this is all about data protection for non-personal data in industry. Who has data sovereignty? How can access rights for transport and storage be organized? How can data and services be efficiently harnessed? For all these questions, there will soon be more clarity based on a reference architecture for a security gateway.

VDI 5600 MES

This guideline for MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) focuses – particularly on sheet 7 – on Industry 4.0; the aim is to show how new data storage technologies change production processes through improved availability and faster access.

What this will ultimately result in and what it means for your business? This blog will tell you as soon as the standards have been ratified.
